Clay Lab: Part I

*This is a two part camp.  Please sign up for Clay Lab: Part I and Clay Lab: Part II.

If you love pottery, this is the camp you’ve been dreaming of! During week one of this two part ceramics camp, young artists will learn to mold and sculpt using a variety of ceramic hand building techniques. Create functional vessels like bowls and cups in addition to one-of-a-kind sculptural pieces. We will be using low-fire white clay to create our masterpieces, which needs plenty of time to dry before being fired in a kiln. Once the clay has been fired, it is ready to glaze and paint during the second week of Clay Lab. For this reason, the two weeks of camp are several weeks apart. In order to participate, students must be able to attend both weeks of camp to fully complete their artwork. Sign up today to save your spot in this super fun art camp!

Clay Lab: Part II

*This is a two part camp.  Please sign up for Clay Lab: Part I and Clay Lab: Part II.

During the second week of Clay Lab, young artists will be painting and glazing their ceramic pieces made during week one. The glazing process adds color and shine, while also making the pieces tougher and able to hold liquids. Most importantly, glazing gives each artist the opportunity to express their own unique vision on the surface of their work. After the week is complete, all of the pieces will be kiln fired for the second time. Finished and fired artwork will be ready for pick up shortly after camp.
